Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside... Belgian waffles at the comfort of your home to gather around the table with your family for breakfast.
Belgium ruined two things for Sam — fries and waffles. No matter how many times he tried finding good waffles in India, none of them could not match the standards of Belgian waffles. If the mountain will not come to Sam, then Sam must go to the mountain, so Sam came up with a true Belgian waffle recipe!
Ingredients: 1 ½ Cups All-Purpose Flour (225 grams)
1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
½ Teaspoon Baking Soda
¼ Teaspoon Salt (a dash of salt)
½ Teaspoon Cinnamon
2 Tablespoons Sugar
1 Large Egg, Separated
¼ Cup Vegetable Oil
½ Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
1 Cup Milk (280 grams) + 1-2 Tablespoons
Instructions:
Step 1 - Separate an egg into yolk and egg white.
Step 2 - Whisk the egg white until stiff peaks in the first bowl.
Step 3 - Combine all wet ingredients, ie milk, vanilla extract, egg yolk, vegetable oil, and sugar, in the second bowl (don’t be surprised, sugar is usually combined with wet ingredients in a lot of recipes).
Step 4 - Mix all dry ingredients, ie flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon powder, in the third bowl.
Step 5 - Add all your wet ingredients to your dry ingredients and mix well (here you may add 1-2 tablespoons of milk to keep the batter runny, if required).
Step 6 - Gently fold your egg white into your batter.
Step 7 - Heat up the waffle iron and gently brush the iron plates with some oil.
Step 8 - Pour the waffle batter on one side of the plate until it covers the surface of the waffle iron.
If your waffle iron flips, flip the waffle iron vertically 1 minute into making a waffle for gravity to pull the waffle batter nicely into the mould.
For a fluffy waffle, cook the waffles for 5-6 minutes on low to medium heat.
For crispy waffles – cook the waffles for 10 minutes on low to medium heat.
Step 9 - Top the waffles with the toppings of your choice (here we topped with cream cheese frosting, honey, mango, cranberries and peppermint).
Step 10 - Bon Appetit! Your favourite breakfast is ready to jump into your tummy!
